About Shirley Breeden
Shirley Breeden is a homegrown Nevadan who has lived in Nevada for 41 years. This year, she is retiring from the Clark County School District after more than 30 years of service.  _mg_1256.jpgMost recently she held the position of Director, Professional Development Education (PDE) with the Clark County School District.  She led the department’s efforts to work cooperatively with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), the Community College of Southern Nevada (CCSN), other State and outside agencies to identify, develop and approve professional development education courses that strengthen on-the-job skills, and provide opportunity for upward mobility to all licensed employees.

As Director, Shirley continued to work closely with academic and non-academic CCSD staff to enhance and expand the PDE delivery system. Her extensive experience, background and expertise in human resources administration, coupled with her integrity and commitment to excellence, allowed her to serve the District with distinction.  Shirley worked

and her career achievements are testament to this.  She received her education in the Clark County School District (CCSD), graduating from Clark High School in 1973.  Ms. Breeden has achieved ‘Honors’ status as a student continuing her post-secondary education in Business Administration at the Community College of Southern Nevada.

Shirley raised three children in Nevada.  In fact, she raised all three in Senate District 5.  Shirley is now a proud grandmother of three fantastic grandchildren- all Native Nevadans.  As a hard working mom, Shirley still devotes considerable time to charitable, community, civic and political causes.
Over the years she has served, with distinction, in leadership positions with the Michael J. Hoggard Scholarship Committee, Green Valley High School Booster Club and the Las Vegas Sagebrush Soccer League.  She has also held memberships with the National Notary Association, National Organization for Women, and the International Personnel Management Association.  Shirley currently is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) working with abused and neglected children who are Wards of the State.
